Outpatient Rehab in Connecticut
Connecticut residents have over 140 outpatient treatment options to choose from when trying to deal with a drug or alcohol problem. Most of the outpatient programs available deliver either regular or intensive outpatient treatment, and some even give the option of both so that patients can have more choices when it comes to choosing the program right for them. Around 30 programs exist in the state which deliver day-treatment and partial hospitalization, which means the individuals attends treatment in a facility much like a clinic or hospital but they are not required to remain at the facility as is the case with inpatient treatment. This would be ideal for someone who needs treatment for a co-occurring mental health disorder for example but can't commit to an inpatient stay. There are also 30 facilities which offer outpatient detoxification services and 31 programs which provide outpatient opiate maintenance services. Outpatient programs which administer medical opiates to opiate dependent clients do so with the goal of treating the surface physical manifestations of the client's addiction, to stopping cravings and withdrawal. These programs don't typically treat the addiction beyond this however and clients will need to agree to daily administration of these drugs as well as frequent drug testing.
In Connecticut, the differences between regular outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services really only involve the intensity in which treatment is offered. Clients in either case receive similar treatment services such as individual and group therapy, but whereas regular outpatient treatment is typically 1 day a week IOP is 3 or more for 9-12 hours per day. So intensive outpatient in Connecticut is the best option for someone who is trying to overcome a more aggressive chronic addiction problem who perhaps isn't able to participate in a more ideal inpatient or residential program in the state. There are both 12-step models available and alternative outpatient programs as well including those which offer a holistic approach.
